Wesco Companies, Inc., a leader in Construction, Homes & Development, Infrastructure, Apartment Management and Rental Businesses, has an immediate opportunity for a high caliber Cost/General Accountant to join a dynamic, rapidly growing company headquartered in Torrance, CA.
responsibilities include:
- Cost accounting
- Variance analysis
- Job specific financial reporting for various construction projects
- Assisting in financial statement preparation and analysis
- Work closely with Project Managers
- Preparation and analysis of cost to complete estimates
- Percentage of completion accounting
- Reconciliation of subsidiary and general ledger accounts
- Variance and account analysis
- Create and post journal entries
- Annual budgeting
- Review of invoices, releases, contracts, change orders, insurance certificates, etc., for accuracy and compliance with legal and contractual requirements
- Financial report preparation
- Various other functions within the accounting department
Requirements:
- BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
- Construction industry experience
- 3+ years accounting experience and must include general ledger, cost coding for construction projects, labor distribution, liens, releases, preliminary notices, and insurance requirements.
- Proficiency with Windows environment, especially Excel and Word
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Team player
- Quick learner
- Experience with Timberline Construction Software
